    Multicultural Night is just around the corner! Below is a final push for booth and volunteer signups, plus a first look at our fall PTA Meeting this October!

    What’s Happening

    Sep 15 and 16 – Dine Out at Parkway Deli (4:00 PM – Close)

    Support the PTA by dining out at Parkway Deli (8317 Grubb Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910), and 10% of the dining sales goes directly to the RCF PTA. Stop by before or after Back to School Night and invite your fellow grade level parents! Dine Outs like this make up an important part of our PTA budget and cover the costs of our Teacher Innovation Grants and Cultural Arts Assemblies! Thank you in advance for your support!

    Sep 25 – Multicultural Night

    We invite you to join us next Friday, September 25, 2026, for Multicultural Night from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on the blacktop/playground behind the school. It’s going to be a wonderful event featuring:

    • Interactive performances including Bollywood by Rhythmaya Dance, and a musical performance by Quartonez  
    • A participatory community art project called our “How our Roots Grow” 
    • Cultural booths from RCF families, Bringing the World to RCF!
    • Pizza and treat sales supporting the 5th Grade Promotion. 
    • Flag Parade (all students can participate), DJ, and more!

    This event is free and open to the RCF community. We encourage families to wear cultural clothing or RCF gear to get in the spirit.

    We are also looking for parent volunteers for setup/cleanup and student volunteers who can earn SSL hours! Sign up here.  

    Oct 6 – PTA Meeting #1 

    Our first General Meeting of the year is three weeks out at 7:00 – 8:00 PM, virtual. We’ll cover PTA priorities for the year ahead, budget updates, and ways to get involved. Agenda and Zoom link coming soon.

    Money for Nothing:

    Support RCF while you shop!

    You can support Rock Creek Forest while you do your regular grocery shopping at Snider’s Super Foods and Corner Market!

    • These wonderful local businesses partner with RCF and the PTA to support our school. RCF receives 1% of totals from collected receipts from Snider’s and 3% from Corner Market. Please turn receipts into the green box outside the RCF main office (also a fun task for kids!). 
    • Don’t want to remember your receipts? Corner Market receipts can also be emailed at checkout to rcfmoneyfornothing@gmail.com, or to your own account and then forwarded to us. You can even set it once at the store, and never have to think about it again!
    • If you were collecting over the summer, now would be a great time to deposit that stack of receipts! And get your friends, family, and neighbors on board – you can drop off their receipts, too!

    Shopping elsewhere?  

    If you shop at Giant, Safeway, or any other grocery store, you may still be able to earn some money for RCF! Download the Box Tops app at: www.boxtops4education.com/s/get-the-app, scan your receipt from any store, and eligible items can earn us money! (Tip: you can even do double duty and scan your Corner Market and Snider’s receipts!)

    Membership Matters

    We can’t do any of this without you. Every program, event, and piece of support the PTA provides to RCF – Room Parents, Multicultural Night, Book Fair, teacher grants, and more – is made possible by parent involvement and PTA membership dues. Memberships this year start at $10 for RCF Staff and $25 for Parents/Caregivers. Every membership helps us raise the funds we need to support our school and our kids.

    Stocking the Staff Lounge

    Show some love to our amazing teachers and staff! Every Monday, a committee member brings snacks, drinks, and coffee to the staff lounge – but we need your help to keep it going. The easiest way to contribute is through our Amazon Wishlist or MyRegistry list.

    You can also drop off drinks or fresh fruit. Contact us to coordinate a time, or join the Staff Appreciation Committee via the volunteer interest form.

    How To Get Involved

    We’re looking for individuals to join our PTA committees this year. No experience needed. We’ll guide you along the way, and there are flexible ways to help.
