Welcome back, Tigers! The school year is off to a vibrant start with fresh routines, curious minds, and lots of chances to connect. Below you’ll find everything coming up so you can plan, participate, and plug in where it works for you. As always, the PTA Blog will have the latest details, links, and sign-ups. Read on for info about the Room Parent program, Multicultural Night, and more!

Aug 18 – Popsicles on the Playground

Join us today for popsicles, community, and a chance to reconnect with RCF families before the year gets rolling. RCFES leadership and some teachers will be present, including our new Assistant Principal, Ms. Heidler. There will also be resource tables for some of our key vendors, including:

Look for us at the PTA table!

Aug 28 – Room Parent Sign-Ups Open

Room Parents are key connectors for each class. Sign up to help share information, coordinate support, and partner with teachers on classroom needs. (Please do not email your teacher directly.) Learn more about the role at: rcfpta.org/room-parent-program/.

Sep 15 and 16 – Dine Out at Parkway Deli (4:00 PM – Close)

Support the PTA by dining out at Parkway Deli, and 10% of the dining sales goes directly to the RCF PTA. Stop by before or after Back to School Night and invite your fellow grade level parents! Dine Outs like this make up an important part of our PTA budget and cover the costs of our Teacher Innovation Grants and Cultural Arts Assemblies! Thank you in advance for your support!

Sep 25 – Multicultural Night

Chair: Anitha Ibrahim | Contact: multiculturalnight@rcfpta.org

Save the date! Last year, RCF families showcased culinary delights, educational displays, and interactive exhibits from around the world. We’re hoping to make it even bigger this year.

We are seeking a solid group of 5-7 volunteers to help with Main Stage performers, family educational booths, decorating, the passport/scavenger hunt activity, and SSL coordination. Note: this is not the Student Service Learning or day-of volunteer signup, which will come later.

Sign up form coming soon!

Oct 6 – PTA Meeting #1

Mark your calendar for our first General Meeting of the year, held virtually at 7:00 PM. Agenda and Zoom link to follow.

We can’t do any of this without you. Every program, event, and piece of support the PTA provides to RCF – Room Parents, Multicultural Night, Book Fair, teacher grants, and more – is made possible by parent involvement and PTA membership dues. Memberships this year start at $10 for RCF Staff and $25 for Parents/Caregivers. Every membership helps us raise the funds we need to support our school and our kids.

If you haven’t joined or renewed your membership yet, please consider signing up today: rcfes.givebacks.com/shop.

Show some love to our amazing teachers and staff! Every Monday, a committee member brings snacks, drinks, and coffee to the staff lounge – but we need your help to keep it going. The easiest way to contribute is through our Amazon Wishlist or MyRegistry list.

You can also drop off drinks or fresh fruit. Contact us to coordinate a time, or join the Staff Appreciation Committee via the volunteer interest form.

Join us September 15th and 16th from 4:00 PM – close for a Dine-Out fundraiser at Parkway Deli, 8317 Grubb Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910. 10% of all proceeds from the evening will be donated to the RCF PTA.

Thank you in advance for your participation!

We’re looking for individuals to join our PTA committees this year. No experience needed. We’ll guide you along the way, and there are flexible ways to help.

Thanks for being part of RCF – whether you join events, volunteer, or simply stay informed, you make a difference. Also a huge thank you to our Executive Committee and volunteers for kicking off the year with Popsicles on the Playground. Your time, energy, and smiles make such a difference in welcoming families back. Thanks for reading, showing up, and sharing PTA news with other families!
